MoF issues Gazette Notification for Smt. Vijaya Raje Scindia Coin

The Government of India will issue a commemorative coin of ₹100 to mark the 'Birth Centenary of Smt. Vijaya Raje Scindia.' The Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on June 04, 2019, confirming the coin.

Vijaya Raje Scindia (12 October 1919 – 25 January 2001), born Lekha Divyeshwari Devi and popularly known as the Rajmata of Gwalior, was a prominent Indian political personality. Inspired by the freedom movement after completing her education, she actively joined the struggle for independence. With a strong belief in educating the girl child and women empowerment, she dedicated herself to these causes.

The metal composition of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “100” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear portrait of Smt. Vijaya Raje Scindia, with the inscription "श्रीमती विजया राजे सिंधिया की जन्‍म शताब्‍दी” in Devanagari script. "Birth Centenary of Smt. Vijaya Raje Scindia" will be written on the top and lower peripheries of the coin. The years “1919-2019” will be inscribed in international numerals at the bottom of Smt. Vijaya Raje Scindia's portrait.

Last year, the government hinted at releasing the commemorative coin through the 12-member National Implementation Committee (NIC), headed by Shri Rajnath Singh. The committee outlined programs and activities for year-long celebrations, commencing from October 11, 2018, to October 11, 2019.

The commemorative coin is expected to be released on October 12, 2019, coinciding with the Birth Centenary of Smt. Vijaya Raje Scindia. The possibility and upcoming coins page have been updated for your reference.

Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for RSS Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the ₹100  commemorative coin  issued to mark the 100 Years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The bookings are open from October 7, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, on October 1, 2025, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp to mark the event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ₹100 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a booklet pack. It remains to be seen whether the Mint will also issue the UNC Set with a booklet pack or the Proof Set with an MDF box.  The ₹100 coin is priced at ₹8,410 for the Proof Set, which comes packaged with a booklet pack.
