Arjun Ram Meghwal and Nalin Kumar Kateel releases Kavi Muddana Coin

The Minister of State for Parliamentary Works and Culture, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, virtually released the ₹150  commemorative coin to mark the 152nd Birth Anniversary of Kavi Muddana , while Member of the Lok Sabha, Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, symbolically released it in Mangaluru.   Nandalike Lakshminaranappa, known by his pseudonym Muddana, made significant contributions to the Kannada literary world. The issuance of the commemorative coin serves as a tribute to his enduring legacy. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel acknowledged the ongoing efforts of Nandalike Balachandra Rao's team, which has been actively involved in various activities under the banner of Kavi Muddanna for several years. He expressed pride in the release of the commemorative coin in honor of Kavi Muddanna. The poet resided in Nandalike village, Karkala taluk, Udupi district. New Commemorative Coin: Kavi Muddana

The Government of India will issue a ₹150  commemorative coin  to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Kavi Muddana . The Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on January 19, 2022, confirming the coin. Nandalike Lakshminaranappa, renowned by his pseudonym Muddana, was a distinguished Kannada writer and Yakshagana poet. He was often referred to as "Mahakavi" or "Mahakavi Muddana." Among his notable works are Ratnavati Kalyaana (Yakshagana), Sri Rama Pattaabhisheka, Adbhuta Ramayana, and Sri Ramashwamedha. Notably, he coined the term "Kannadam Kasthuriyanthe," wherein he affectionately compares his cherished Kannada language to the fragrance of Kasthuri. The metal composition of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. Possible Themes on New Commemorative Coins for 2022

As India gears up for its 75th year of independence in 2022, commemorative coins of all the denominations ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10 and ₹20 with 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' logo are scheduled to be released soon. There are few potential themes where possible commemorative coins could be released by the Government of India. This issue has arisen due to the proliferation of misinformation by certain YouTubers who falsely claim substantial values, often in the lakhs of rupees, for common coins and banknotes. Numismatic events are organized by dealers with the aim of promoting the hobby and facilitating the sale of old or new coins to collectors. However, dealers seldom make purchases unless the coins are genuinely rare. YouTubers often feature commemorative coins in their videos, suggesting that common circulation coins like the Rs 5 coin featuring Indira Gandhi or those from the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board could fetch lakhs or even more. Consequently, a large number of people attend events with these commonplace coins, hoping for substantial returns, only to be disappointed and left in a state of depression.
