The India Government Mint, Kolkata has opened the bookings of  ₹150 coin issued to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sri Auribindo with MDF Box packages.  The bookings are open from March 18, 2023, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released the commemorative coin along with the postage stamp to mark the event on  December 13, 2022 via video conferencing.  The programme was held in Kamban Kalai Sangam, Puducherry, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The ₹150 commemorative coin in Proof Set with the MDF Box packaging is priced at ₹4,235. However, the Proof and UNC sets, presented in a Folder/Blister packages were issued for booking on February 14, 2023 with t he Proof Set priced at ₹3,706 and UNC Set at  ₹3,443 . The Government of India will be issuing a ₹150  commemorative coin  on occasion of  150th Birth Anniversary of  Sri Aurobindo . The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notification confirming the same on 9th December 2022. Sri Aurobindo was an Indian philosopher, yogi, maharishi, poet, and Indian nationalist. He was also a journalist, editing newspapers such as Vande Mataram. Earlier in 1998, commemorative coins in denominations of ₹100, ₹50, ₹10 and₹2 was issued on occasion of  125th Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo . The metal composition of the coin will be Quaternary Alloy (50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel and 5% Zinc). The weight of the coin will be 35 grams and 44 mm in diameter with 200 serrations at the edge.
