250th Session of Rajya Sabha Commemorative Coin Released

The President, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, joined by Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla, and  Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Shri Prahlad Joshi  unveiled the commemorative coin of Rs 250 and a postal stamp of Rs 5 to commemorate the historic 250th Session of the Rajya Sabha . Along with the coin and postal stamp, a publication, titled “Rajya Sabha: The Journey since 1952” providing glimpses of various aspects of functioning of the House and it’s Hindi version. Addressing the historic session, Prime Minister said that Rajya Sabha made significant contribution to the history of the country and that the house has also seen history being made.  He added that the vision of the makers of Indian Constitution in creating a bicameral legislative framework has enriched our democracy. New Commemorative Coin: 250th Session of Rajya Sabha

The Government of India will issue a  commemorative coin  of ₹250 to mark the '250th Session of Rajya Sabha'. The Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on November 08, 2019, confirming the coin. In the midst of challenges, with leaders of the ruling coalition questioning its relevance and branding it obstructionist, the Rajya Sabha is poised to commemorate its 250th session in November-December this year. The metal composition of the ₹250 coin will consist of Pure Silver (99.9%). The coin will weigh 40 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows. The obverse of the coin will showcase the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar at the center, accompanied by the inscription "सत्यमेव जयते" below. The word “भारत” and "INDIA" will be positioned at the right and left periphery, respectively, with the Rupee Symbol "₹” and the denomination value of “500” in International Numer

PM Modi Releases Rs 550 Coin on Guru Nanak Dev Ji

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled a ₹550 commemorative coin today, on occasion to mark the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji   at  Gurdsapur, Punjab.  He urged the audience to uphold the teachings and values of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji during his participation in the special event organized at Dera Baba Nanak, coinciding with the inauguration of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) and the Kartarpur Corridor. The Chief Minister of Punjab Shri Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Navjot Singh Sidhu and other dignitaries were also present in the event. This release signifies the seventh  commemorative coin  for the year 2019. The ₹550 marks the first release in this denomination in the history of Republic India coinage.

PM Modi releases Guru Nanak Dev Ji Thai Souvenir Token in Bangkok

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday released a commemorative token marking the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev , as well as a Thai translation of Tamil classic ‘Tirukkural’ prior to his speech at the Sawasdee PM Modi event in Bangkok. "The relationship between India and Thailand is not attributed to any particular government. No single government can claim credit for this relationship. Every moment shared between the two countries in the past has contributed to building and strengthening this bond," the Prime Minister stated in his address at the ‘Sawasdee PM Modi’ event. Countries like Nepal and Pakistan have already issued commemorative coins to mark the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The release of the Rs 550 commemorative coin is scheduled to take place in India, mostly on November 9, 2019.
