Cancellation of ICC World Cup 2019 Coins Appears Probable

Image
The issuance of ICC World Cup 2019  commemorative coins, featuring denominations of Rs 1000 in Gold and Rs 500 in Silver, appears to be cancelled, suggesting that the Government of India has abandoned its initial plans. Earlier reports indicated the scheduled release of an Rs 1000 gold coin measuring around 18 mm and an Rs 500 silver coin with a standard 44 mm diameter. Leaked promotional material for these coins featuring ICC World Cup 2019 had circulated on various social media platforms. However, it appears that the Government of India has not given the green signal for the issuance of India's first pure gold and pure silver coins dedicated to the ICC World Cup 2019. As a result, these coins are likely to be cancelled.
