Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for Somnath Temple Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the ₹75  commemorative coin  issued to mark the  75 Years of Somnath Temple Restoration . The bookings are open from May 11, 2026, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier today, the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, released the ₹75 commemorative coin and postal stamp marking the occasion while participating in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav at Veraval in Gujarat. The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Harsh Sanghavi, along with other ministers and distinguished dignitaries, were also present on the occasion. The ₹75 coin is currently available in a Proof Set, packaged in a Folder priced at ₹16,018. It remains to be seen whether the Kolkata Mint will also release UNC Sets in similar packaging. New Commemorative Coin: Somnath Swabhiman Parv

The Government of India will issue a ₹75  commemorative coin   to mark 1,000 years of unbroken faith associated with the sacred Somnath Temple . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on May 8, 2026, confirming this coin. Somnath Swabhiman Parv is observed as an expression of national pride, cultural continuity, and civilizational self-confidence associated with the historic reconstruction of the sacred Somnath Temple. The observance commemorates two important milestones connected with the shrine—the completion of 1,000 years since the first recorded attack on the temple in 1026 CE and 75 years since its reopening in 1951 following reconstruction in independent India. The  metal composition  of the ₹75 coin will consist of Pure Silver (99.9%). The coin will weigh 40 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge.
