Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for Delhi University Coins

The India Government Mint, Kolkata has opened the bookings for the  ₹100  commemorative coin  issued on  ' Centenary Year of University of Delhi .'  The booking period is open from May 18, 2022 to August 15, 2022. Earlier, on May 1, 2022, the Hon'ble Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, released the ₹100 commemorative coin, postage stamp, and centenary volume during the inauguration of the centenary celebrations of the University of Delhi on its 100th Foundation Day in New Delhi. The commemorative coin in Proof Set is priced at ₹4,532 and UNC Set at ₹4,212 for the Folder or Blister packing. This is the fifth coin released based on the University theme after Banaras Hindu University , University of Mysore , Lucknow University and Harcourt Butler University  which makes numismatists to collect theme based collection. Vice President Releases ₹100 Coin on Delhi University

The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, released the ₹100  commemorative coin , postage stamp, and centenary volume during the inauguration of the centenary celebrations of the  University of Delhi  on its 100th Foundation Day in New Delhi on May 1, 2022. He also inaugurated the Centenary Website of the University and honored Ms. Kritika Khinchi, a student of Gargi College and the creator of the Centenary Logo for the University of Delhi. The Minister extended his congratulations to the University for pioneering the implementation of all aspects of NEP 2020. He urged the prestigious University to expand the scope of skilling and education, aspiring to nurture 'job creators.' MoF issues Gazette Notification for Delhi University Coin

The Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on July 22, 2022, regarding the issuance of a commemorative coin to mark the ' Centenary Year of the University of Delhi .' In March 2022, Vice-Chancellor Shri Yogesh Singh had announced the issuance of the commemorative coin and a postage stamp. The metal composition of the coin will be  Quaternary Alloy  (50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel and 5% Zinc). The weight of the coin will be 35 grams and 44 mm in diameter with 200 serrations at the edge. The description of the coin is as below.  Obverse:   The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed  below, flanked  with the  word “भारत” and  "INDIA" at right and left periphery of the coin with Rupee Symbol "₹” and denomination  value “100” in International Numerals below the Ashoka Lion Capitol. The Government of India is set to issue a ₹100 commemorative coin to mark the Centenary Year of the University of Delhi , celebrating a century of academic excellence and contributions to India’s educational and cultural landscape.  The University, widely known as Delhi University, will officially begin its centenary celebrations on May 1, 2022, with a series of events and initiatives planned throughout the year.
