New Series of Coins Confirmed by GOI

Image
The Finance Minister Shri Piyush Goyal emphasized the need for the Security Printing & Minting Corporation of India (SPMCIL) to harness its full potential and expand its export footprint, aiming for exponential profit growth. He made these remarks during the 13th Foundation Day of SPMCIL held on February 10, 2019. The Economic Affairs Secretary Shri Subhash Chandra Garg, who was also present, confirmed the design of a new series of coins. A notable feature of this series is its accessibility for visually impaired individuals. Contrary to earlier speculations, the series will be themed around "Agriculture" and not on topics such as "Digital India," "Swachh Bharat," "Beti Padhao Beti Bachao," and "Make in India." The upcoming series will include denominations of ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, and ₹10, along with the introduction of a new ₹20 bi-metallic coin.
