Shri Amit Shah Releases ₹50 Coin on the Official Language Department

The Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, released a ₹50 commemorative coin  to mark the Golden Year Celebration of the Official Language Department today, on June 26, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta; Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Minister of State for Home Affairs; Smt. Sudha Murty, Member of Rajya Sabha; and Smt. Anshuli Arya, Secretary of the Department of Official Language, were among the distinguished attendees who graced this significant occasion. New Commemorative Coin: Official Language Department

The Government of India will issue a ₹50  commemorative coin  to mark the  Golden Year Celebration of Official Language Department . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on June 25, 2025, confirming this coin. The Official Language Department is celebrating its Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of dedicated service in promoting Hindi as the official language of the Union. This milestone reflects a rich journey of policy implementation, cultural preservation, and linguistic integration across various government sectors. The celebration honours the department’s efforts in strengthening administrative communication while upholding the values of India’s linguistic diversity. It serves as a reminder of the department’s evolving role in uniting the nation through the power of language. The  metal composition  of the ₹50 coin will consist of Pure Silver (99.9%). Kolkata Mint Starts Bookings for Shri Karpoori Thakur Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has started accepting bookings for the ₹100 commemorative coin issued to mark the Birth Centenary of the Late Shri Karpoori Thakur . The bookings has opened today, October 21, 2024, and are subject to limited availability. Earlier, the Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah, released the commemorative coin and postage stamp on January 24, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, as part of the Birth Centenary celebrations of the late Shri Karpoori Thakur. Currently, the ₹100 coin is available in Proof and UNC sets with Folder/Blister packaging. Proof sets with MDF/Wooden Box packaging are awaited, although it's uncertain if they will be issued. The Proof set in Folder packaging is priced at ₹3,068, while the UNC set is priced at ₹2,812. The pricing remains competitive despite the recent surge in silver prices, offering collectors good value for these coin sets. The Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah, released the ₹100 commemorative coin  and postage stamp while marking the Birth Centenary of Late Shri Karpoori Thakur  today, January 24, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Among the dignitaries present were Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of Law & Justice, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture; Shri Hukmdev Narayan Yadav, Former Union Minister of Cabinet Textile and Food Processing Industries; Dr. Virendra Kumar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment; Shri Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs; and Smt.
