The Government of India will issue a  commemorative coin  of ₹150 to mark the  150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi . The Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on August 22, 2019, confirming the coin. The preparations are in progress for a grand event at Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad to mark the commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The October 2 program is among the various events scheduled to observe this occasion, as stated in a government-issued statement on Friday. According to the statement, a meeting of the Executive Committee for commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of the father of the nation was convened, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
