Kolkata Mint to re-open counter sales from 3rd Jan 2022

The India Government Mint, Kolkata is re-opening it's commemorative coin sales counter from 3rd January 2022. Collectors can now purchase commemorative coins of various themes in Proof, UNC and Executive sets (if any) directly from the counter subject to availability.  The Mint has also confirmed about the color silver souvenir coins weighing 20 grams and 40 grams which will be launched very soon. The announcement was published in all leading newspapers on December 31, 2021, by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. Please find the attached document above for reference.

Will India Introduce a 50 Rupees Circulation Coin Soon?

A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court, urging the Central Government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to establish a policy for the issuance of ₹50 coins. The aim is to ensure equal opportunities and ease of doing business for visually-challenged citizens in the country. The application was submitted within the context of an ongoing petition by advocate Mr. Rohit Dandriyal, who originally sought directives for the withdrawal of new ₹50 currency notes. The difficulty faced by visually-challenged individuals in using these notes due to their size and tactile marks was cited as the primary concern. The plea highlighted the efforts of the respondents in implementing various schemes for the visually-challenged, including the issuance of visually-friendly coins in denominations such as ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10, and ₹20. Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for HBTU Coin

The India Government Mint, Kolkata has opened the advanced bookings of ₹100 commemorative coin issued on  Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur .  The booking period for the coin is open from 10-December-2021 to 31-March-2022. Earlier, on November 25, 2021, the President, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, released the commemorative coin during the centenary celebrations of Harcourt Butler Technical University at Kanpur. The Proof Coin Set is priced at ₹4461, while the UNC set is available at ₹4140. The pricing for both the Proof and UNC sets has seen an increase of approximately 35 percent when compared to the recent bookings for the ₹125 commemorative coin of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada . These coins are accessible either at the Mint Premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint.
