New Rs.100 Note Featuring Gujarat's 'Rani Ki Vav'

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has incorporated a lavender hue in the new Rs. 100 banknote, which is expected to be in circulation mostly by next month. The new violet note is part of the revised design series introduced after the demonetization in November 2016. This latest variant showcases Gujarat's 'Rani Ki Vav' (queen's stepwell) along with the Swachh Bharat logo and slogan on its reverse, while Gandhi ji's placement remains unchanged. All Rss 100 notes issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender. The new note is slightly smaller than the existing one but larger than the Rs 10 banknote. Once the new notes are introduced, banks may need to recalibrate ATMs to accommodate the new denominations, similar to the process undertaken for the Rs 2,000, 500, and 200 banknotes in 2016. UNESCO has recognized Gujarat's 'Rani-ki-Vav,' the 11th-century wonder in Patan, as a World Heritage Site, and it will make a grand debut
