One Rupee Currency Note with Year 2017 Announced

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to issue the new ₹1 currency note bearing the year 2017 into circulation. The new notes, printed by the Government of India, will feature the ₹ symbol and carry the signature of Shri Shaktikanta Das, Secretary, Ministry of Finance. According to the Reserve Bank of India, the new ₹1 notes will be predominantly pink and green on both the obverse and reverse, along with other colours. The notes will retain the distinctive features associated with the ₹1 denomination while incorporating the ₹ symbol in their design. The printing of ₹1 currency notes was discontinued in 1994. However, the denomination was re-introduced in 2015, marking the return of the Government of India's ₹1 currency note after a gap of more than two decades.
