Mumbai Mint Opens Bookings for Atal Bihari Vajpayee Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has opened bookings for  commemorative coin  issued to mark the Birth Centenary of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee . The bookings began today, March 26, 2025, and are available in limited quantities. Earlier, the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled the ₹100 commemorative coin and a postal stamp celebrating the Birth Centenary of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25, 2024, at Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. The ₹100 coin is available in Proof and UNC sets, packaged in either a folder or a blister pack. Additionally, it is also offered in a Proof Set with an MDF box packaging option. The Proof Set is priced at ₹7,095, while the UNC Set is priced at ₹6,915, both available in folder or blister packaging. The Proof Set with an MDF box is priced at ₹7,305. The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will unveil a ₹100 commemorative coin and a postal stamp celebrating the Birth Centenary of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25, 2024, at Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. As part of the event, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several major development projects in Khajuraho, including the Ken-Betwa River Linking National Project, India’s first interlinking of rivers initiative under the National Perspective Plan. In addition, Shri Modi will lay the foundation stone for 1,153 Atal Gram Sushasan buildings, designed to enhance the operational efficiency of Gram Panchayats and promote good governance at the grassroots level. The Government of India will issue a ₹100  commemorative coin  to mark the Birth Centenary of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on December 23, 2024, confirming this coin. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a revered Indian statesman, poet, and orator who served as the 10th Prime Minister of India. Known for his visionary leadership, Vajpayee led India through significant economic reforms and nuclear advancements. A founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he was respected across political lines for his eloquence, diplomacy, and emphasis on good governance. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in 2015 for his invaluable contributions to the nation. The  metal composition  of the ₹100 coin will consist of Pure Silver (99.9%). The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has officially opened bookings for the commemorative coins issued on Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Paika Bidroha . Collectors can book these coins in both Proof and Uncirculated (UNC) Sets during the booking window, which extends from January 4, 2019, to April 4, 2019. In the last week of December 2018, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi formally released the ₹100 coin commemorating the Birth Anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee , followed by the ₹200 coin marking the Bi-Centenary of Paika Bidroha . New Commemorative Coin: Atal Bihari Vajpayee Birth Anniversary

The Government of India will be issuing a ₹100 commemorative coin to mark the Birth Anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee .  The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notification today confirming the same. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on August 16 this year at the age of 93, served as the Prime Minister of India for 13 days in 1996, 13 months in 1998, and for almost six years from 1999. In his honour, several places have been renamed, including four Himalayan peaks and Chhattisgarh's Naya Raipur, which has been renamed Atal Nagar. The Uttarakhand government has also decided to rename Dehradun airport after the former prime minister, and Lucknow's renowned 'Hazratganj Chauraha' will be renamed Atal Chowk. The metal composition of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc.
