MoF issues Gazette Notification for Delhi University Coin

The Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on July 22, 2022, regarding the issuance of a commemorative coin to mark the 'Centenary Year of the University of Delhi.'

In March 2022, Vice-Chancellor Shri Yogesh Singh had hinted at the issuance of a commemorative coin and postage stamp.

The metal composition of the coin will be Quaternary Alloy (50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel and 5% Zinc). The weight of the coin will be 35 grams and 44 mm in diameter with 200 serrations at the edge. The description of the coin is as below. 

Obverse:  The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed  below, flanked  with the  word “भारत” and  "INDIA" at right and left periphery of the coin with Rupee Symbol "₹” and denomination  value “100” in International Numerals below the Ashoka Lion Capitol.

Reverse: The face of coin shall bear the logo of the University of Delhi in the centre of the coin. The inscription “दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय का शताब्दी वर्ष" shall be written in Devnagari script on the upper periphery and the inscription “CENTENARY YEAR OF UNIVERSITY OF DELHI” in English is depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. The year “2022” in international numeral shall be written below the logo of the University of Delhi.

The commemorative coin is anticipated to be released on 1st May 2022, aligning with the 100 years celebrations of University of Delhi.
