New Commemorative Coin: Shri Ram Chandra Ji

The Government of India will be issuing a Rs 150 commemorative coin on occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Shri Ram Chandra Ji. The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notification today confirming the same.

Ram Chandra (Lalaji) (1873 - 1931) was a spiritual guide from Fatehgarh Uttar Pradesh India. He was popularly known as "Lalaji" among his followers. He is said to have re-discovered the ancient Indian system of transmission called "Pranahuti" (offering of Prana) which is often referred to as “Pranasya Prana” (Life of Life) in the practice of meditation. After his passing, his disciples started many spiritual organization "Shri Ram Chandra Mission".

The metal composition of the coin will be Quaternary Alloy (50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel and 5% Zinc). The weight of the coin will be 35 grams and 44 mm in diameter with 200 serrations at the edge. The description of the coin is as below. 

Obverse:  The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed  below, flanked  with the  word “भारत” and  "INDIA" at right and left periphery of the coin with Rupee Symbol "₹” and denomination  value “150” in International Numerals below the Ashoka Lion Capital.

Reverse: This face of coin shall bear the image of Shri Ram Chandra Ji  in the center of the coin. The  inscription "150th Birth Anniversary of Shri Ram Chandra Ji" in English shall depicted on the upper periphery of the coin. Below the English text the inscription "श्री रामचंद्र जी की 150 वीं जयंती" shall be written in Devanagari script. Below the image of Shri Ram Chandra Ji, inscription "श्री रामचंद्र मिशन के आदि गुरु" in Devnagri script and "Adi Guru of Shri Ram Chandra Mission" in English text is written. The year “1873-2023” in international numeral shall be written on the lower periphery of the coin.

The commemorative coin will be released mostly on 2nd February 2023.
