Kolkata Mint Starts Bookings for Shri Karpoori Thakur Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has started accepting bookings for the ₹100 commemorative coin issued to mark the Birth Centenary of the Late Shri Karpoori Thakur. The bookings has opened today, October 21, 2024, and are subject to limited availability.

Earlier, the Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah, released the commemorative coin and postage stamp on January 24, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, as part of the Birth Centenary celebrations of the late Shri Karpoori Thakur.

Currently, the ₹100 coin is available in Proof and UNC sets with Folder/Blister packaging. Proof sets with MDF/Wooden Box packaging are awaited, although it's uncertain if they will be issued.

The Proof set in Folder packaging is priced at ₹3,068, while the UNC set is priced at ₹2,812. The pricing remains competitive despite the recent surge in silver prices, offering collectors good value for these coin sets. Even with the fluctuating metal market, the Mint has managed to keep the prices accessible, ensuring that collectors can acquire the coins for their collections.

These coin sets can be obtained either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint. For further details and updates, please refer to the 'Current and Upcoming Bookings' section for your convenience.
