1970 - Food For All | Commemorative Coin

The theme "Food For All" was used for commemorative coins. This marked the first time coins were issued on the theme of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization).

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), established on October 16, 1945, is a specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to addressing hunger and advancing sustainable agricultural development globally. The year 1970 marked the 25th anniversary of the organization, highlighting its longstanding commitment to fostering positive change in the realm of food and agriculture.

FAO's mission encompasses a comprehensive approach that recognizes the intricate interplay between agriculture, the environment, and the well-being of communities. By addressing these interconnections, the organization strives to play a pivotal role in promoting global food security, sustainable agricultural practices, and the holistic development of rural areas.

In addition to its core functions, FAO engages in various initiatives and programs that span research, data collection, and analysis. The organization serves as a vital hub for the exchange of knowledge and expertise, facilitating international collaboration among governments, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders. Through its policy advice and capacity-building efforts, FAO empowers member countries to formulate and implement effective strategies to tackle challenges related to food production, distribution, and access.

Furthermore, FAO is instrumental in responding to emergencies, including natural disasters and food crises, providing critical assistance to affected regions. The organization also emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices, ensuring that agricultural systems are environmentally sound, socially equitable, and economically viable for the long-term benefit of communities worldwide.

As FAO continues its efforts to fulfill its mandate, the organization remains at the forefront of initiatives that aim to create a world where food security is ensured, agriculture is sustainable, and rural communities thrive.
