1995 - 8th World Tamil Conference | Commemorative Coin

The first commemorative coin of 1995 was issued to mark the 8th World Tamil Conference, featuring Saint Thiruvalluvar.

The International Association of Tamil Research (IATR) was established in 1964 with a commitment to advancing Tamil studies. Over the years, the IATR has played a pivotal role in fostering scholarly engagement by organizing conferences and seminars on Tamil studies every four years. These academic gatherings have been hosted in diverse locations, including India, Sri Lanka, France, the Maldives, Mauritius, and Malaysia—regions with significant Tamil-speaking populations. This monumental work comprises couplets covering a wide spectrum of topics, including ethics, political and economic matters, and expressions of love. The Tirukkuṟaḷ stands as an exceptional piece of Tamil literature, revered for its wisdom, universality, and enduring relevance across generations. Thiruvalluvar’s teachings continue to inspire scholars, policymakers, and ordinary readers alike, highlighting moral conduct, civic responsibility, and harmonious living.

Kolkata Mint Commences Bookings for RSS Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the ₹100  commemorative coin  issued to mark the 100 Years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The bookings are open from October 7, 2025, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, on October 1, 2025, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp to mark the event at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The ₹100 coin is currently available in the Proof Set, packaged with a booklet pack. It remains to be seen whether the Mint will also issue the UNC Set with a booklet pack or the Proof Set with an MDF box.  The ₹100 coin is priced at ₹8,410 for the Proof Set, which comes packaged with a booklet pack. Vande Mataram, the National Song of India, is a timeless ode to the motherland, symbolizing devotion, unity, and national pride.
