Legend has it that it was on this day that ā€œLord Krishnaā€ gave Draupadi a ā€˜PATRAā€™ or a ā€˜Potā€™ that has a never-ending supply of food for the ā€˜Pandavasā€™ symbolizing ā€˜Abundance and Prosperityā€™. Also the ā€˜Akshaya Tritiyaā€™ is the day of prosperityā€™ and the day the ā€˜God of wealthā€™. ā€˜Lord Kuberaā€™ received his riches from ā€˜Lord Shivaā€™. Gold generally means good fortune and prosperity for a family or business but any good deed like ā€˜Starting a new ventureā€™, Business, deed or ā€˜Start Accumulating Wealth like ā€˜Goldā€™ never ends or is ever remains, increases but never ends. Hence Precious Gold brought home or Gifted on ā€˜Akshaya Tritiyaā€™ signify never diminishing good fortune.
