2022 - The Hyderabad Philatelic & Hobbies Society | Mint Souvenir Token

The India Government Mint, Hyderabad, issued a souvenir token to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Hyderabad Philatelic & Hobbies Society. The souvenir tokens were distributed exclusively among the members of the Society.

The history of the Hyderabad Philatelic & Hobbies Society dates back to 1962, when it was established as the Indo-American Philatelic Society. The Society was founded and formally inaugurated by Mr. Millet of the USA on December 12, 1962, with the objective of spreading knowledge and promoting the hobby of philately. The Society is affiliated with the Philatelic Congress of India, the national federation of philatelic societies in India.

In 1974, the organisation was renamed the Hyderabad Philatelic & Hobbies Society. With renewed enthusiasm, the Society expanded its activities beyond philately to promote a wide range of collecting hobbies, including numismatics, notaphily, matchbox labels, and other areas of interest.

One of the Society's notable contributions is its regular publication of monthly e-magazines, The Hyderabad Philatelist and The Hyderabad Hobby Magazine. Published on the first day of every month, these publications provide a platform for sharing knowledge, research, news, and developments relating to philately and other collecting hobbies, reflecting the Society's commitment to encouraging and documenting the hobby.

The Society celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2022, marking six decades of its contribution to the philatelic and collecting community. Over the decades, the Hyderabad Philatelic & Hobbies Society has played an important role in promoting collecting, encouraging knowledge-sharing, and bringing enthusiasts together. Its journey from the Indo-American Philatelic Society of 1962 to the Hyderabad Philatelic & Hobbies Society reflects its enduring commitment to the preservation and promotion of philately, numismatics, notaphily, and other collecting traditions.

Kolkata Mint Issues Make in India Special Box Set for Bookings

The India Government Mint, Kolkata has opened bookings for a special box set issued to mark the 10th Anniversary of Make in India . The bookings commenced on August 4, 2026, and the set is being offered in limited quantities. The Make in India ₹100  coloured commemorative coin , India's first-ever coloured coin, was released by the Hon'ble Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, on September 20, 2025, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the flagship Make in India initiative.
