2019 - Shree Mahalakshmi Pujan | Mint Souvenir Token

The third souvenir token released in the year 2019 was to celebrate Shree Mahalakshmi Pujan on occasion of Deepavali / Diwali festival. This was the first time a gold coin was released from IG Mint in the history of Republic of India.

Diwali or Deepawali is the Hindu festival of lights, typically lasting five days and celebrated during the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-October and mid-November). One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali or Deepavali symbolises the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance". The festival is widely associated with Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity.
