2024 - Shri Ram Chandra Ji, Shahjahanpur | Commemorative Coin
The 9th commemorative coin for the year 2024 was released to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of Shri Ram Chandra Ji of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur, affectionately known as Babuji, was born on April 30, 1899, in Shahjahanpur, a town in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He is the revered founder of a spiritual organization called Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM), established in honor of his Master, Shri Ram Chandra of Fatehgarh, in 1945.
From a young age, Ram Chandra displayed a profound yearning for spiritual realization that eclipsed all other interests. Shri. Babuji's life exemplified that of an ordinary householder, not that of a renunciate or sannyasi. He regarded the home and family as the finest training ground for spirituality, approaching his familial responsibilities with this perspective.
In June of 1922, at the relatively young age of twenty-two, he first encountered his Master, a man sharing the same name in the town of Fatehgarh, not far from Shahjahanpur. Shri. Ram Chandra of Fatehgarh, affectionately known as Lalaji, was a saint of the highest calibre.
The art of transmission was imparted from Rev. Shri Lalaji to his most devoted disciple, Rev. Babuji, who further refined his Master’s teachings into the current practice of Sahaj Marg (the natural path).
Although teacher and disciple met only a few times before Lalaji’s passing in 1931, Shri. Lalaji Maharaj became the sole center and purpose of Shri. Babuji’s existence. The thought of his Master remained constant in Babuji’s mind and heart from their initial meeting until he himself transitioned to the brighter world on April 19, 1983.
