Nidhi 2018 – International Seminar on South Indian Numismatics

A lesson in Indian history, a tour around the South Indian Coinage - all this and more are on offer as all hobby lovers are in for a numismatic treat, with a one day seminar at Bengaluru on 13th July 2018.


The international seminar on South Indian Numismatics, titled 'Nidhi 2018,' is organized by Falcon Coins Gallery. The event is scheduled to take place at West Fort Hotel Bengaluru and will be co-hosted by the 'Oriental Numismatic Society' and the 'Archaeological Survey of India' Bangalore circle.

The numismatic seminar will include an overview of Pre-Satavahana Coins from Central India and Vidarbha, exploring their linkage with Satavahana Coins, presented by Dr. Amiteshwar Jha. Additionally, Mr. Mohit Kapoor, Mr. Pundalik Baliga, and Mr. Raman Sankaran will delve into the topic of 'tracing the origin and subsequent depiction of Gandabherunda coins.' The seminar will cover lectures on South Indian Coins by Shri. Prashant Kulkarni (Mughal Coinage of South India) and Shri. K Ganesh (Challenges in the study of South Indian Coins). Mr. Jan Lingen will contribute his insights on 'Arkat Rupee with a Latin D,' examining its potential Danish or French origins.

The event will also feature a numismatic display by the Archaeological Survey of India. The full-day Numismatic Event is scheduled from 09:30 to 17:30 hours.
