New Commemorative Coin: 2550th Niravana Mahotsav of Lord Mahavir

The Government of India will issue a commemorative coin of ₹100 to mark the 2550th Nirvana Mahotsav of Lord Mahavir

Shri Manoj Tiwari, a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha, officially announced the issuance of the commemorative coin during the Shamavani program held on the 2nd of October 2023 at the historic Red Fort grounds in Delhi.

The 2550th Nirvana Mahotsav of Shri Mahavir will indeed fall on the 13th of November 2023, coinciding with Kartik Amavasya. However, the celebration of the last Tirthankara of Jainism will take place nationwide, jointly organized by the Lord Mahavir Nirvana Mahotsav Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, on the 26th of November 2023 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi. The official inauguration of this event will be carried out by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. This is a momentous occasion to honor the legacy of Lord Mahavir and his profound teachings.

This grand commemoration serves as a reminder of his profound wisdom and the enduring legacy of his teachings, uniting followers in deep reverence and reflection. It is a time of prayer, reflection, and community, as devotees come together to honor the memory of Lord Mahavir and seek spiritual enlightenment in the path he illuminated for humanity.

The awaited gazette notification from the Ministry of Finance will provide further details about the commemorative coin.

In 2023, 13 commemorative coins have been released up to this date. The upcoming 2550th Nirvana Mahotsav of Lord Mahavir and the Centenary Year of Kaivalyadhama will witness two more coin releases, making a total of 15 for the year. The possibility of commemorative coins have been updated for your reference.
