Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman Releases ₹125 Coin on Paramahansa Yogananda

The Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, released a ₹125 commemorative coin to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of Paramahansa Yogananda at a special ceremony held in New Delhi on October 29, 2019. Modification in Inscription for ₹550 Coin of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

The Ministry of Finance has issued a gazette notification on October 16, 2019, announcing changes to the inscription on the ₹550 commemorative coin that is to be released in honor of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji . This update follows an earlier notification dated June 3, 2019, regarding the issuance of the coin. In the original notification, the reverse side of the coin featured the inscription "श्री गुरु नानक देव जी का 550वां प्रकाश उत्सव" in Devanagari script and "550th Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji" in English. These inscriptions were intended to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.   The recent notification introduced a change, replacing the words "Prakash Utsav of Shri" with "Prakash Purab of Sri" wherever they occur. The Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released a ₹150  commemorative coin  and the six postal stamps to mark the  150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi  today, October 2, 2019 while  inaugurating the Swachh Bharat Diwas in Ahmedabad. The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, while addressing a gathering of Sarpanches at the ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’ programme, remarked that the entire world is commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and the occasion has become even more memorable with the United Nations recently releasing a postal stamp in honour of Gandhiji.
