2020 - University of Lucknow | Commemorative Coin

The forth commemorative coin for the year 2020 was released to mark the Centennial Celebrations of University of Lucknow. This was the third commemorative coin released for a specific university, following Banaras Hindu University and University of Mysore.
 
The University of Lucknow, established in 1867, is one of India's oldest government-owned institutions for higher education. Located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, it operates as a teaching, residential, and affiliating university with over 160 colleges and institutes spread across the city. Lucknow University is affiliated with prestigious bodies such as the University Grants Commission, Association of Commonwealth Universities, Association of Indian Universities, and the Distance Education Council. Accreditation comes from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, National Council of Teacher Education, and the Bar Council of India, with initial affiliation to the UGC in 1921.

The idea of establishing the university originated in 1919, with Raja Sir Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan advocating for it. Subsequent efforts by Sir Harcourt Butler led to the formation of the university in 1920. Lucknow University operates as a unitary institution, offering faculties in Arts, Science, Medicine, and Law. The King George's Medical College and Hospital, along with other supporting institutions, played vital roles in the establishment and growth of Lucknow University.

PM Modi Releases ₹200 Coin on Shree Swaminarayan Mandir, Vadtal

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released a ₹200 commemorative coin on Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Vadtal today, on November 11, 2024 through video conferencing. Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani, attended the event. The Vadtaldham Dwishatabdi Mahotsav , celebrating the 200th anniversary of the temple, took place from November 7 and will continue till November 15. New Commemorative Coin: Mysore Medical College and Research Institute

The Government of India will issue a ₹100  commemorative coin  to mark the Centenary Celebration of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on November 25, 2024, confirming this coin. Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI), established in 1924 in Mysuru, Karnataka, is one of India’s oldest medical colleges. Affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, it offers MBBS, postgraduate, and super-specialty courses. Known for academic excellence and attached to hospitals like K.R. and Cheluvamba, MMC&RI combines quality education with essential healthcare services. The  metal composition  of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc.
