2024 - Nirvan Kalyanak of Parshvanath Bhagwan | Commemorative Coin

A commemorative coin of ₹800 will be issued to mark the 2800th Nirvan Kalyanak of Parshvanath Bhagwan. The Ministry of Finance has issued the gazette notification on November 18, 2024.

The 2800th Nirvan Kalyanak of Parshvanath Bhagwan is a profound milestone that resonates deeply within the Jain community and beyond. It marks 2800 years since the liberation (nirvana) of the 23rd Tirthankara, whose teachings continue to guide humanity toward a path of righteousness and spiritual fulfillment. Parshvanath Bhagwan is revered for propagating the foundational tenets of Jainism: Ahimsa (nonviolence), Satya (truth), Asteya (nonstealing), and Aparigraha (nonpossession), principles that remain highly relevant in today’s world.  

The occasion is celebrated with great devotion through rituals, prayers, and spiritual discourses. Pilgrimages to Mount Sammed Shikhar, the holy site where he attained moksha, are undertaken by countless devotees, reflecting their reverence and faith. The Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, along with Jainacharya Shri Jin Piyush Sagar Surishwarji, will release commemorative coins and postage stamps to celebrate the 2900th Janm Kalyanak and 2800th Nirvan Kalyanak of the 23rd Tirthankara, Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan, at Bhopalgarh, District Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on December 25, 2024.
