The introduction of colour coins marked an important technological and aesthetic milestone in the history of modern India coinage. The ₹100 commemorative coins issued for the 10th Anniversary of Make in India and for 100 Years of Electrification in Indian Railways represented a significant transition in the visual language of Indian numismatics. According to the release sequence, the Make in India coin holds the distinction of being the first coloured coin of Republic India, followed by the Railway Electrification coin as the second such issue. These coins therefore stand at the beginning of a new chapter in the evolution of commemorative coin production. The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has commenced the bookings for the commemorative coins issued on 10th Anniversary of Make in India and Official Language Department . The bookings are open from March 16, 2026, and it is subject to limited availability. The first-ever coloured coin with ₹100 denomination was unveiled by the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal in New Delhi to mark a decade of the Make in India initiative on September 20, 2025.  The ₹50 coin was released to mark the Golden Jubilee of Official Language Department by the Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on June 26, 2025. The bookings are open from January 12, 2026, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier on January 9, 2026, the Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled a ₹100 coin and a postage stamp, while he conferred the 70th Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar on selected railway personnel at the India International Convention & Expo Centre (Yashobhoomi), Dwarka, New Delhi. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on July 11, 2025, confirming this coin. Make in India is an initiative launched by the Government of India to promote and support companies in developing, manufacturing, and assembling products within the country while encouraging dedicated investments in the manufacturing sector. The policy aims to foster a favorable investment climate, enhance modern infrastructure, and open new sectors to foreign capital, driving economic growth and self-reliance. The  metal composition  of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc.
