PM Modi Releases ₹100 Coin on University of Lucknow

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released the ₹100  commemorative coin , postage stamp and special cover to mark the  Centennial Foundation Day of University of Lucknow via video conferencing on November 25, 2020. The Union Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Shri Rajnath Singh, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, were present at the event. The Prime Minister urged the University to introduce courses centred on local arts and products, with research focused on adding value to traditional crafts such as Lucknow’s Chikankari, Moradabad brassware, Aligarh locks and Bhadohi carpets. He said that training in management, branding and strategy would make these products globally competitive and strengthen the ‘One District, One Product’ vision. New Commemorative Coin: University of Lucknow

The Government of India will issue a  commemorative coin  of ₹100 on occasion of ' Centennial Celebrations of University of Lucknow .' The Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on November 18, 2020, officially confirming the release of the coin. The Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, will participate in the celebration of the Centennial Foundation Day of the University of Lucknow on November 25, 2020, at 5:30 PM via video conferencing. The Union Defence Minister, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will also be present on this significant occasion. The  metal composition  of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.
