New Commemorative Coin: 150th Year of IACS
The Government of India will issue a ₹150 commemorative coin to mark the 150th Year of Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on March 13, 2026, confirming this coin. The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) was established in 1876 in Kolkata with the aim of promoting scientific research and education in India. It was founded by the eminent physician and educationist Mahendra Lal Sircar, who envisioned an institution where Indians could actively engage in scientific experiments and research. IACS played a crucial role in the development of modern science in India and became internationally renowned when C. V.
