Govt to Introduce New Series of Coins into Circulation Soon
The Government of India is set to introduce the newly designed visually impaired-friendly coins in denominations of ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10, and ₹20 into circulation shortly. During the presentation of the Union Budget 2019–20 in Parliament, Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman confirmed that “these new coins will soon be made available for public use,” signaling that the long-awaited definitive series is nearing its release into the banking system. Earlier, on March 7, 2019, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled this new definitive series of coins , specially designed with enhanced tactile features to aid the visually impaired.
