President Murmu to release ₹100 coin on Centenary Year of Kaivalyadhama

The Honorable President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, will release a ₹100 commemorative coin and a postage stamp to celebrate the Centenary Year of Kaivalyadhama on November 29, 2023, Presented by Kudilal Govindram Seksaira Foundation at Kaivalyadhama in Lonavala. In addition to the Centenary Celebrations, there will be workshops and plenary sessions organised from November 29th to December 1st, 2023. Kolkata Mint to issue Coloured Silver Souvenir on World Cup 2023

The Kolkata Mint is set to release a coloured silver souvenir to commemorate the upcoming 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup . The 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup marks the 13th edition of this quadrennial One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament, organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). This tournament is being hosted exclusively by India, starting on October 5 and concluding on November 19, 2023. The souvenir token is crafted with 50 grams of Silver (999) and features an attractive design priced at ₹5207.26. Bookings for the souvenir will commence on September 30, 2023, as advertised in most leading newspapers today by Kolkata Mint. Collectors would have greatly appreciated the issuance of a commemorative coin rather than the souvenir token. Update: The souvenir token has been unexpectedly withdrawn as of October 3, 2023, for reasons undisclosed. Refunds are anticipated for orders made through the India Government Mint's website.

New Commemorative Coin: Centenary Year of Kaivalyadhama

The Government of India will issue a commemorative coin of ₹100 to mark the Centenary Year of Kaivalyadhama . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on September 27, 2023, confirming this event. Founded by Swami Kuvalayananda in 1924, Kaivalyadhama has been a pioneer in promoting well-being, education, and research in the field of Yoga for the past century. Situated on a sprawling 180-acre campus in Lonavala, Maharashtra, it boasts a cutting-edge research facility, the world's first Yoga college, a healthcare center, and a CBSE school, among other amenities. The metal composition of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy , comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows. Rs 2000 Banknotes Set to be Withdrawn within 5 Days!

In its withdrawal notice, the RBI explained that the ₹2000 banknotes had fulfilled their intended purpose and were no longer in widespread circulation. The central bank also referenced its 'clean note policy,' which mandates the replacement of worn or soiled notes within a period of four to five years. India to phase out ₹2000 Banknote in less than a week, with ₹24,087 Crore ($2.9 Billion) still in circulation. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued an order to withdraw the highest denomination banknote, the 2,000-rupee note , on May 19, 2023. This move comes after almost seven years of its introduction in November 2016 to remonetize the economy, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's sudden decision to invalidate 1,000 and 500 rupee notes as legal tender overnight, as part of an anti-corruption initiative. The India Government Mint in Mumbai has started accepting bookings for the commemorative coin of ₹60 issued to honor the Central Bureau of Investigation and  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav coin series , featuring denominations of ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10, and ₹20. The booking period began on September 15, 2023, and is subject to limited availability. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) coins are issued in Proof and UNC sets in Folder/Blister packages and Proof Sets with MDF Boxes. The ₹60 coin issued in the Folder/Blister packaging within the Proof Set is priced at ₹3,865, while the UNC Set is priced at ₹3,345. Additionally, for those interested in the Proof Set with the MDF/Wooden Box, it's available at ₹4,320.
