New Commemorative Coin: Muthuvel Karunanidhi
The Government of Tamil Nadu is celebrating the Birth Centenary of the late M. Karunanidhi , a former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and former president of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). As part of this celebration, plans are in place to release a commemorative coin with a denomination of ₹100. Muthuvel Karunanidhi (3 June 1924 – 7 August 2018) was a prominent Indian writer and politician who held the position of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for nearly two decades, spanning five terms between 1969 and 2011. He is affectionately known as "Kalaignar" (Artist) and "Mutthamizh Arignar" (Tamil Scholar) for his invaluable contributions to Tamil literature. Karunanidhi holds the distinction of having the longest tenure as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, serving for a total of 6,863 days.
