Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for Khartargachha Sahastrabdi Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has opened the bookings for the ₹1,000 commemorative coin issued to mark the Khartargachha Sahastrabdi, which marks the completion of 1000 years since its foundation by Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri. The bookings are open from February 01, 2024, and it is subject to limited availability.

The ₹1,000 coin, featured in the Proof Set and offered in Folder/Blister packaging, carries a price of ₹5,336. The UNC Set, has not opened for booking yet. Additionally, the Proof Set, which includes an MDF/Wooden Box, is also awaiting availability for booking.

The ₹1,000 coin is crafted from Pure Silver (99.9%), weighing 40 grams, with a diameter of 44 mm and adorned with 200 serrations along the edge.

Shri Acharya Devvrat, the Governor of Gujarat, unveiled the ₹1,000 commemorative coin during the Khartargachha Sahastrabdi Mahotsav in Palitana, Gujarat, on December 26, 2023.

This marks the third instance of a ₹1000 denomination commemorative coin, succeeding the releases of the '1000 Years of Brihadeeswarar Temple, Thanjavur' in 2010 and 'Shri Jagannath Nabakalebara' in 2018.

These coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the current and upcoming bookings section.

Update:

The UNC Set in Folder/Blister packaging is now open for booking at a price of ₹5,030, as listed on the Mint's official website on February 19, 2024.

The Proof Set with MDF packaging is priced at ₹10,143, as listed on the Mint's official website on September 11, 2025.
