Despite its name, Nickel Silver contains no actual silver. It is an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc, known for its bright silvery appearance, durability, and resistance to corrosion. The Government of India will issue commemorative theme  in two ₹100 coin variants as part of the inauguration of Seva Teerth Complex .  The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on February 12, 2026, confirming this theme. Seva Teerth Complex is a newly developed administrative hub designed to house the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat. Conceived as a modern and integrated governance centre, it reflects a shift toward service-oriented and citizen-centric administration. This fundamental distinction must be clearly understood by collectors, authorities, and the public alike. The true value of a commemorative coin lies in its historical, cultural, and symbolic significance, not in the weight or prevailing market price of the metal used to strike it. For this reason, the intrinsic metal value of a commemorative coin should ideally remain limited, preferably around 30 to 40 percent of its issue price.
