RBI to Launch Five-Episode Web Series on 90-Year Journey and Functions

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to launch a five-episode web series to provide an in-depth look at its functions and its 90-year journey . According to an official document, the series will span nearly three hours, with each episode lasting 25-30 minutes. The official document states, "The bank intends to produce a five-episode web series, each approximately 25-30 minutes long, which can be broadcast on national TV channels and/or OTT platforms, celebrating the RBI's 90-year journey." The document invites bids through e-tendering for the 'Production and Distribution of Web Series Commemorating 90 Years of RBI'. This series aims to enhance public understanding of the central bank's crucial role in the economy, fostering greater engagement and building trust and confidence in its operations and policies. MoF issues Gazette Notification for Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi Coin

The Government of India will issue a  commemorative coin  of ₹100 to mark the Birth Centenary of Kalaignar Dr. M. Karunanidhi . The Ministry of Finance issued the gazette notification on July 12, 2024, confirming the coin. Muthuvel Karunanidhi (3 June 1924 – 7 August 2018) was a prominent Indian writer and politician who served as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for nearly two decades across five terms between 1969 and 2011. Known as "Kalaignar" (Artist) and "Mutthamizh Arignar" (Tamil Scholar) for his contributions to Tamil literature, he holds the record for the longest tenure as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, serving 6,863 days. A steadfast leader of the Dravidian movement, he presided over the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party ten times and never lost an election to the Tamil Nadu Assembly, winning 13 consecutive times since 1957. The Government of India will issue a commemorative coin with a denomination of ₹75 to celebrate the ' 75 Years of Supreme Court of India '. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on July 11, 2024, confirming this coin. The Supreme Court of India, as the highest judicial authority in the Republic of India, serves as the final court of appeal for all civil and criminal cases in the country. In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the Supreme Court is organising a Special Lok Adalat from July 29 to August 3, 2024, to facilitate the amicable settlement of suitable pending cases. The metal composition of the ₹75 coin will consist of Pure Silver (99.9%). The coin will weigh 40 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The Government of India will issue a commemorative coin with a denomination of ₹150 to celebrate the 150 Years of Bombay Stock Exchange . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on July 11, 2024, confirming this coin. BSE Limited, also known as the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), is an Indian stock exchange located on Dalal Street, often referred to as the Wall Street of Mumbai and the New York of India. Established in 1875 by cotton merchant Premchand Roychand, it is the oldest stock exchange in Asia and the tenth oldest in the world. As of May 2024, the BSE is the world's 7th largest stock exchange, with a market capitalization exceeding US$5 trillion. Mumbai Mint Opens Bookings for Jawaharlal Darda and Vibrant Gujarat Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has started accepting bookings for the  commemorative coins  issued to mark the ' Birth Centenary of Shri Jawaharlal Darda ' and ' 20 Years of Vibrant Gujarat Summit '. Bookings commenced on July 8, 2024, and are subject to limited availability. The ₹100 coin of Shri Jawaharlal Darda and the ₹20 coin of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit are issued in Proof and UNC sets. Both the ₹100 coin issued for the 'Birth Centenary of Shri Jawaharlal Darda' and the ₹20 coin issued for '20 Years of Vibrant Gujarat Summit' are available in Folder or Blister packaging within the Proof Set, priced at ₹4,170, while the UNC Set is available for ₹3,860.  Additionally, both the ₹100 coin and ₹20 coin are also available in a Proof Set with the MDF or Wooden Box, priced at ₹4,595. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Eknath Shinde released the ₹100 commemorative coin today, on July 2, 2024, on the occasion of the 101st Birth Anniversary of the Late Shri Jawaharlal Darda at Nariman Point, Mumbai.  The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Shri Vijay Darda, Chairman of Lokmat Media, Shri Rajendra Darda, Editor-in-Chief of Lokmat Media Group, and other dignitaries graced this significant occasion with their presence. Shri Jawaharlal Darda, born in Babhulgon on July 2, 1923, started his journey as a social worker and, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, joined the freedom struggle. He participated in the Satyagraha agitation in 1942 and the Quit India Movement, leading to a prison sentence of one year and nine months. While in Jabalpur Jail, he organized a Youth Conference on August 10, 1942, and in 1944, he founded the Azad Hindu Sena in Yavatmal.
