RBI to Launch Five-Episode Web Series on 90-Year Journey and Functions

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to launch a five-episode web series to provide an in-depth look at its functions and its 90-year journey. According to an official document, the series will span nearly three hours, with each episode lasting 25-30 minutes.

The official document states, "The bank intends to produce a five-episode web series, each approximately 25-30 minutes long, which can be broadcast on national TV channels and/or OTT platforms, celebrating the RBI's 90-year journey." The document invites bids through e-tendering for the 'Production and Distribution of Web Series Commemorating 90 Years of RBI'.

This series aims to enhance public understanding of the central bank's crucial role in the economy, fostering greater engagement and building trust and confidence in its operations and policies. The RBI has called for proposals from interested production houses, TV channels, and OTT platforms.

The primary objective is to create a comprehensive and engaging series that delves into the RBI's functions and operations over its 90-year history. The series will highlight the central bank's vision and mission, showcase significant achievements and initiatives, and provide insights into ongoing developments and collaborations.

"Through compelling storytelling, expert interviews, and high-quality visuals, the web series seeks to enhance transparency and build trust in the central bank's operations and policies," the RBI stated.

The series aims to make complex financial concepts accessible and interesting to a broad audience, contributing to financial literacy. It will also serve as a valuable communication tool for the central bank, supporting policy announcements and strategic messages while fostering greater public engagement and understanding of its vital role in the economy.

Established in 1935, the RBI celebrated its 90 years on April 1st this year. To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released a ₹90 commemorative coin at the RBI's headquarters in Mumbai, making it the first ₹90 denomination coin issued in the history of Republic India's coinage.

While other central banks, such as the Bank of England and the European Central Bank, have produced documentaries on their operations, it is indeed necessary to showcase how the RBI functions for the benefit of the public and numismatists through compelling storytelling, interviews, and visuals.
