Mumbai Mint Commences Bookings for Sri Ramanasramam Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has commenced bookings for the ₹100 commemorative coin issued to mark the Sri Ramanasramam Centenary. The bookings began today, January 24, 2026, and are available in limited quantities.

Earlier, on September 14, 2025, the commemorative coin was released by Dr. Venkat S. Ramanan, President of Sri Ramanasramam, at the Downtown Event Center in Fremont, California. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Shri Rakesh Adlakha, Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General of India (San Francisco); Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri), Padma Bhushan awardee and renowned scholar; Shri Raj Salwan, Mayor of Fremont; and Smt. Sunita Parasuraman of Sri Ramana Maharshi Heritage (USA), along with devotees, scholars, and admirers from across the region.

Subsequently, the commemorative coin was also released by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, during the ongoing 146th Jayanti celebrations of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi at a function held on January 22, 2026, in New Delhi. The event was attended by Dr. Venkat S. Ramanan, President of Sri Ramana Ashram, Tiruvannamalai (Tamil Nadu); Justice K. Ramamoorthy (Retd.), President of Ramana Kendra Delhi; and several other distinguished dignitaries.

This ₹100 coin is offered in Proof and UNC sets, packaged in a Folder or Blister pack. Additionally, It is also available as a premium Proof Set in an MDF or Wooden box.

The ₹100 coin in Folder or Blister packaging is priced at ₹18,952 for the Proof Set and ₹18,788 for the UNC Set, while the premium Proof Set in an MDF or Wooden Box is priced at ₹19,507. These prices are subject to revision based on fluctuations in metal prices.

The pricing reflects the coin’s high specifications—it is struck in 99.9% pure silver, weighs 40 grams, measures 44 mm in diameter, and carries 200 serrations along the edge. These features, combined with limited availability and the rising costs of silver and minting, contribute to its relatively higher price for collectors.

These coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the current and upcoming bookings section.
