Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for Seva Teerth Complex Coin Sets
The India Government Mint, Kolkata has opened bookings for the ₹100 commemorative coin issued in two variants to mark the Seva Teerth Complex. The bookings are open from February 25, 2026, and are subject to limited availability.
Earlier on February, 13, 2026, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, released the ₹100 commemorative coin along with a postal stamp during the formal inauguration of the Seva Teerth Complex in New Delhi. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several Union Ministers, including Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Shri Jitendra Singh, Minister of Finance Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Defence Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, among others.
The ₹100 coin is being issued in two variants — one in Pure Silver and the other in Nickel Silver (base metal). The bookings for the Proof Set of the Nickel Silver variant are now open at a price of ₹1,984, while the pure silver variant is still awaited.
Collectors now have the flexibility to choose between the premium Pure Silver variant and the more affordable Nickel Silver (base metal) version. This decision by the India Government Mint may have been influenced by the recent volatility in silver prices over the past few months. Those who value intrinsic metal content may prefer the silver edition, whereas collectors primarily interested in the commemorative theme may opt for the base metal variant.
It is also worth noting that the India Government Mint, Kolkata has introduced the ‘K’ mint mark on its Proof coins beginning with this issue. This marks a significant development, as the inclusion of a distinct mint mark enhances transparency, improves identification for collectors, and aligns with established global minting practices. The ‘K’ mint mark will help numismatists clearly distinguish coins struck at the Kolkata Mint from those produced at other Indian mints.
Overall, the move is appreciable, as the Mint appears to be responding positively to the concerns and interests of the collecting community. These coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the official website of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the current and upcoming bookings section.
