New Commemorative Coin: 100 Years of SBI New Delhi Main Branch
The Government of India will issue a ₹100 commemorative coin to mark the 100 Years of State Bank of India, New Delhi Main Branch. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on February 26, 2026, confirming this coin.
The New Delhi Main Branch of State Bank of India is one of its oldest and most prominent branches in the national capital. Established in 1926 as part of the Imperial Bank of India, it has played a significant role in serving government institutions, corporate clients, and individual customers for nearly a century. Over the decades, the branch has evolved with advancements in banking technology while maintaining its legacy of trust and stability. It continues to be a key centre for major banking operations and financial services in Delhi.
The metal composition of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.
Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “100” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.
Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear the image of the State Bank of India, Main Branch, New Delhi Building at the centre of the coin. The Official Emblem of the State Bank of India shall be depicted above the image. The inscription “100 Years of State Bank of India, New Delhi Main Branch” in English and the inscription “भारतीय स्टेट बैंक, नई दिल्ली मुख्य शाखा के 100 वर्ष” in Devanagari script shall be inscribed on the upper periphery of the coin. The year “1926-2026” in international numerals shall be depicted on the lower periphery of the coin.
This ₹100 coin marks the third occasion on which a commemorative coin has been issued for the State Bank of India. Earlier, ₹100 and ₹5 coins were released to celebrate its Bicentenary Year in 2006, followed by a ₹100 coin commemorating the Mumbai Main Branch Centenary Year in 2024.
While the significance of the State Bank of India is unquestionable, repeated themes in commemorative coinage may not always be well received by collectors and numismatists, who generally prefer greater variety and unique subjects to enrich their collections. The possibility and upcoming coins page have been updated for your reference.
