2019 - 150 Years of Mahatma Gandhi | Commemorative Coin

The 5th commemorative coin for the year 2019 was released on occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This coin marks the inaugural release of a pure silver commemorative coin under the auspices of the Government of India.


Gandhi Jayanti marked the commencement of 150 years of celebrating the Mahatma, culminating in the 'Swachhta Hi Sewa' event. The nation observed this significant occasion with a myriad of activities, including marches, cleanliness drives, and blood donation camps, symbolizing a collective commitment to Gandhian principles and fostering a cleaner, healthier society.

The Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, released a ₹100 commemorative coin  and special postal envelope to mark the first Samadhi Divas of Sant Shiromani Digambar Jainacharya Vidyasagar Mahamuniraj during his visit to Chandragiri, Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh, today, February 6, 2025. The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, and Shri Naveen Jain, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), among others, accompanied Shri Amit Shah during the event.
