2019 - 150 Years of Mahatma Gandhi | Commemorative Coin

The 5th commemorative coin for the year 2019 was released on occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This coin marks the inaugural release of a pure silver commemorative coin under the auspices of the Government of India.

The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on November 18, 2024, confirming this coin. The 2900th Janm Kalyanak of Parshvanath Bhagwan marks the birth of the 23rd Tirthankara, celebrated by Jains worldwide. Parshvanath Bhagwan is revered for his teachings of Ahimsa (nonviolence), Satya (truth), Asteya (non-stealing), and Aparigraha (non-possession), which continue to inspire millions on the path of spiritual growth and ethical living.
