2007 - Connectivity and IT Series | Definitive Coin

The year 2007 marked the introduction of definitive coin series of ₹5 and ₹10 with the theme "Connectivity and Information Technology", reflecting India's rapid technological advancement and expanding communication infrastructure.

The ₹5 and ₹10 definitive coins introduced under the "Connectivity and Information Technology" theme symbolised India's rapid progress in communication and technological development. The reverse of both the coins featured a stylised wave motif, a common representation of the spread of technology, innovation, and information networks, reflecting the country's growing emphasis on automation, connectivity, and the digital age.

The ₹5 coin under this theme was minted and issued only during 2007 and 2008. From 2009, it reverted to the earlier definitive design, although it was struck in nickel-brass with revised specifications. The ₹10 coin carrying the same theme was minted from 2008 to 2010, after which it was replaced by the New Rupee Symbol Series introduced in 2011.

In contrast, the lower denominations—50 Paise, ₹1, and ₹2—continued to be issued with the "Nritya Mudra" (Classical Dance Gestures) theme. As a result, two different design themes coexisted in India's definitive coinage during this period, with the higher denominations representing modern technological progress and the lower denominations continuing the cultural motif introduced earlier.
