New Commemorative Coin: 10 Years of PMSMA

The Government of India will issue a ₹75 commemorative coin to mark the 10 years of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA). The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on June 8, 2026, confirming this coin.

The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, will release a ₹75 commemorative coin and a postage stamp on June 9, 2026 to commemorate “10 Years of PMSMA – A Decade of Care.” The event marks a decade of the successful implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at providing quality antenatal care, ensuring safe pregnancies, and promoting healthy motherhood across the nation.

The Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) is a flagship maternal healthcare initiative launched by the Government of India on June 9, 2016 to provide assured, comprehensive, and quality antenatal care to pregnant women. The programme offers free health check-ups and specialized medical services on the 9th day of every month at designated government health facilities. It places special emphasis on the early detection and management of high-risk pregnancies, helping to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Over the years, PMSMA has played a significant role in promoting safe motherhood and reducing preventable maternal and infant mortality across the country.

The metal composition of the ₹75 coin will consist of a Nickel Silver, comprising 60% Copper, 20% Nickel, and 20% Zinc. The coin will weigh 32 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin's description is as follows.

Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “75” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.

Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear the official logo of Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan at the centre of the coin. The inscription “प्रधानमंत्री सुरक्षित मातृत्व अभियान” in Devanagari script shall be inscribed on the upper periphery of the coin. The year “2026” in international numerals shall be written below the official logo.
