2025 - Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji | Commemorative Coin

The 19th commemorative coin of 2025 was released to mark the 108th Birth Anniversary of Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji.

Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji, the 23rd Pontiff of the Uttaradi Math, occupies a significant place in the spiritual and philosophical landscape of India. Born in 1910 in Bangalore, he displayed an early inclination towards scriptural study and spiritual discipline, which later shaped his life’s mission. In 1944, he embraced sanyasa and went on to guide the Uttaradi Math with remarkable devotion, scholarship, and leadership.

As the head of the Math, Swamiji was deeply committed to the propagation of the Dvaita philosophy of Sri Madhvacharya. His discourses on the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, and other key texts were noted for their clarity, depth, and accessibility, enabling people from varied backgrounds to engage with profound philosophical ideas. He placed equal importance on preserving tradition and encouraging contemporary application, ensuring that the philosophy remained relevant in modern society.

Education and scholarship were central to Swamiji’s vision. He actively supported the establishment of institutions, promoted rigorous scriptural studies, and encouraged scholars to pursue research and teaching in Vedantic literature. His leadership not only safeguarded the intellectual heritage of the Math but also expanded its reach to new generations of seekers and students.

What distinguished Swamiji was his ability to connect with people beyond the circle of scholars and ascetics. He stressed that spirituality must be an integral part of everyday life, guiding householders, youth, and communities toward ethical living and higher purpose. His emphasis on dharma, humility, and selfless service earned him widespread respect and admiration.

Sri Satya Pramoda Teertha Swamiji’s life represents a harmonious blend of spiritual pursuit, academic rigor, and social engagement. His enduring contributions continue to inspire followers of the Dvaita tradition and remain a valuable chapter in the broader narrative of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
