Home Minister Amit Shah Releases ₹100 coin on Mann Ki Baat

The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah released ₹100 commemorative coin and postage stamp to mark the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s popular radio broadcast program 'Mann Ki Baat'. The event held on April 26, 2023 at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The Union Minister for Railways, Communication, Electronics and IT Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Thakur were also present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Amit Shah said that the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat marks a historic moment, highlighting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s effort to connect with people and strengthen democracy. By choosing All India Radio, Shri Modi revived the platform, engaging millions, including the younger generation, and giving a new lease of life to the medium.

Shri Shah emphasized that Mann Ki Baat is a unique, non-political platform that channels India’s positive, creative, and spiritual energy. Over nine years, the program has recognized contributors, encouraged social initiatives, and promoted programs like Swachh Bharat, Fit India, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and Vocal for Local. The program reaches listeners in 23 languages and 29 dialects across 501 radio stations, with 23 crore people tuning in per episode and over 100 crore listening at least once.

He noted that Mann Ki Baat has been instrumental in uniting citizens, particularly during crises like COVID-19, making it a collective effort of 130 crore Indians. The program has inspired over 700 contributors and 270 organizations, spreading the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam globally. Shri Shah highlighted that the program strengthens emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and social engagement and serves as a model of effective communication.

Through Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi has promoted Indian traditions, culture, startups, cooperative movements, rural economy, indigenous toys, musical instruments, and sports, impacting society at multiple levels. Shri Shah concluded that the program has become a strong medium to empower citizens, recognize their contributions, and reinforce the foundations of democracy in India.

The coin is minted by India Government Mint, Kolkata. Needless to say, this is the first time a commemorative coin is released on a radio broadcast program.
