Mumbai Mint Opens Bookings for ₹75 NCC Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Mumbai, has opened the bookings for the ₹75  commemorative coin  issued to mark the  75 years of Raising of National Cadet Corps . The bookings are open from May 30, 2023 to July 10, 2023. Earlier, the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released the ₹75  commemorative coin  along with the special day cover , while addressing the  NCC PM rally on January 28, 2023 at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi . The Proof Set is priced at ₹3,820 and UNC Set at ₹3,300 for the Blister/Folder pack. For the Wooden box pack, t he Proof Set is priced at ₹4,275 and UNC Set at ₹3,990. The ₹75 commemorative coin on the National Cadet Corps (NCC) highlights the esteemed youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces. These coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the  official website  of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the  current and upcoming bookings  section.

PM Modi Releases ₹75 Coin while Inaugurating New Parliament Building

The Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released a ₹75  commemorative coin  and postal stamp while dedicating the  New Parliament Building  to the Nation, on May 28, 2023 in New Delhi. The Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, and Deputy Speaker of Rajya Sabha, Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh were present on the occasion among others. New Commemorative Coin: New Parliament Building

The Government of India will issue a ₹75  commemorative coin  to mark the inauguration of New Parliament Building . The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on May 25, 2023, confirming this coin. The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Parliament building on May 28, 2023. The ceremony will feature a grand puja, the installation of the historic Sengol, the screening of two short films, and the release of a commemorative coin and postage stamp. The new Parliament building forms a key component of the Central Vista Redevelopment Project, launched by the Government of India in 2019. This ambitious project includes the redevelopment of Kartavya Path, the construction of a new residence for the Vice President, a new office and residence for the Prime Minister, and the integration of various ministerial offices into a single Central Secretariat. Kolkata Mint Opens Bookings for Raja Ram Mohan Roy Coin Sets

The India Government Mint, Kolkata has opened the bookings for  ₹250 commemorative coin  issued to mark 250th Birth Anniversary of  Raja Ram Mohan Roy .  The bookings are open from May 24, 2023, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, released the ₹250 coin and a special postal stamp to mark the occasion on May 22, 2023 at Belvedere House, home to The National Library of India in Kolkata. The event was attended by Shri Rajat Paul, Chief General Manager, India Government Mint, Kolkata, Ms. Priyanka Chandra, Director, Ministry of Culture, Shri Sukanta Majumdar, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and State President, BJP West Bengal, along with other distinguished guests. RBI to Withdraw ₹2,000 Banknotes from Circulation

The Reserve Bank of India has decided to withdraw ₹2,000 denomination banknotes from circulation and asked all to exchange them by September 30, 2023. The ₹2,000 notes, however, will continue to be legal tender. The ₹2000 denomination banknote was introduced in November 2016 under Section 24(1) of RBI Act, 1934, primarily to meet the currency requirement of the economy in an expeditious manner after the withdrawal of legal tender status of all ₹500 and ₹1000 banknotes in circulation at that time. The objective of introducing ₹2000 banknotes was met once banknotes in other denominations became available in adequate quantities. Therefore, printing of ₹2000 banknotes was stopped in 2018-19. In a statement released today, the central bank stated: “In pursuance of the “Clean Note Policy” of the Reserve Bank of India, it has been decided to withdraw the ₹2000 denomination banknotes from circulation. The Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released a ₹100 commemorative coin and a postal stamp marking National Technology Day , the 25th Anniversary of Operation Shakti on May 11, 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The India Government Mint, Kolkata, has opened the bookings for the ₹100  commemorative coin  issued to mark the  100th Episode of Mann Ki Baat . The bookings are open from May 6, 2023, and it is subject to limited availability. Earlier, On April 26, 2023, the Hon'ble  Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah released the  commemorative coin  and postage stamp to mark the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s popular radio broadcast program 'Mann Ki Baat' at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The ₹100 coin is currently available in the Proof and UNC Sets, packaged in a Folder or Blister pack. The Proof Set is priced at ₹3,781  and UNC Set priced at ₹3,494. These coin sets can be purchased either at the mint premises or through the  official website  of the India Government Mint, with updates available in the  current and upcoming bookings  section.

The Government of India  will be issuing a ₹100  commemorative coin  to mark the ' National Technology Day - 25th Anniversary of Operation Shakti ' .  The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on May 3, 2023, confirming this coin. National Technology Day, observed on 11 May every year, celebrates India’s remarkable achievements in science and technology. The day commemorates the successful Pokhran-II nuclear tests of 1998, which showcased the nation’s advanced technological capabilities. It also honours the contributions of scientists, engineers, and innovators who drive India’s progress. Across the country, educational institutions and organisations hold events to inspire young minds and promote a spirit of innovation and research. The  metal composition  of the ₹100 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc.
