PM Modi Releases ₹75 Coin while Inaugurating New Parliament Building

The Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released a ₹75 commemorative coin and postal stamp while dedicating the New Parliament Building to the Nation, on May 28, 2023 in New Delhi.

The Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, and Deputy Speaker of Rajya Sabha, Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh were present on the occasion among others.

The Prime Minister said that 28 May 2023 marks a historic moment for India, symbolizing a new milestone in the nation’s democratic journey. He described the new Parliament building as a reflection of the aspirations of 140 crore Indians — a modern “temple of democracy” that blends heritage with innovation and transforms vision into reality.

He emphasized that the installation of the sacred Sengol restores an important cultural symbol of duty and nationhood. Highlighting India’s deep democratic roots, he noted that democracy here is not just a system but a timeless tradition reflected in ancient texts, republics and cultural heritage.

The Prime Minister said the new Parliament represents Amrit Kaal — an era of renewed development and national resolve, combining ancient pride with modern capability. Built with contributions from shramiks across the country, the structure embodies the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

He recalled India’s progress over the last nine years in housing, sanitation, connectivity and rural development, all guided by the principle of uplifting the poor. He said that just as India’s freedom movement inspired the world, the nation’s journey towards becoming a developed country will also motivate many others.

The Prime Minister concluded that the new Parliament will strengthen India’s democratic foundations, inspire future generations, and guide the nation towards a prosperous, strong and developed future.

This release marks the 9th commemorative coin of the year 2023, minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. The bookings are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website and will be updated in the current and upcoming bookings section.
