PM Modi Releases ₹75 and ₹100 Coins on India's G20 Presidency

The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, released the ₹75 and ₹100 commemorative coins along with special postage stamps to mark India’s G20 Presidency, while inaugurating the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on July 26, 2023.

The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, along with several other Union Ministers, government officials, and leading industry experts, was present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister began with a poem capturing the nation’s renewed spirit, describing Bharat Mandapam as a symbol of India’s capability and willpower. He praised the Shramiks for their dedication and paid tribute to the martyrs on Kargil Vijay Diwas.

He explained that the name Bharat Mandapam draws inspiration from the ‘Anubhav Mandapam’ of Bhagwan Basaveshwara, reflecting India’s tradition of dialogue. As India marks 75 years of Independence, he said the venue will showcase the nation’s growing stature during the upcoming G20 Summit.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Bharat Mandapam will boost global exhibitions, conference tourism, and provide a platform for startups, artists, and artisans, representing Atmanirbhar Bharat and the Vocal for Local movement. He stressed that such infrastructure was long overdue and pointed to developments like the expanded Delhi Airport, the upcoming Jewar Airport, improved hospitality, and e-conference visas as part of a broader ecosystem.

He noted the capital’s recent infrastructure growth—the new Parliament building, National War Memorial, Police Memorial, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Memorial, projects around Kartavya Path, and the upcoming ‘Yuge Yugeen Bharat’ museum.

Emphasizing India’s “Think Big, Dream Big, Act Big” approach, he cited achievements including the world’s largest solar-wind park, the highest rail bridge, longest tunnel, highest motorable road, and the tallest statue. He reaffirmed India’s rise to the 5th largest economy and expressed confidence it will soon be among the top three.

He highlighted major investments in infrastructure, rapid progress in rail electrification, metro expansion, rural roads, airports, and city gas distribution. He said New India is focusing on permanent solutions, with the PM Gati Shakti Masterplan acting as a major enabler.

Calling the present decade crucial for achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’, he noted that 13.5 crore people have risen out of poverty in five years. Speaking on India’s G20 Presidency, he said hosting events in over 50 cities showcased India’s diversity. He concluded that the new facilities built for G20 reflect good governance and the principle of Nation First, Citizen First.

The ₹75 and ₹100 commemorative coins released today have been minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. Both coins are identical in metal composition, weight, and diameter. This release marks the tenth commemorative coin issued in 2023.

The bookings are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint's website and will be updated in the current and upcoming bookings section.
