PM Modi Releases ₹100 Coin on 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav and released the ₹100 commemorative coin and postal stamp on the auspicious occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti today, on 21st April at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The Minister of State for Law & Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, and the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi, were also present to grace the occasion.

Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankar, illuminated the path of peaceful co-existence and universal brotherhood through Jain principles like Ahimsa (Non-Violence), Satya (Truthfulness), Asteya (Non-Stealing), Brahmacharya (Chastity) and Aparigraha (Non-attachment).

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister remarked that the magnificent Bharat Mandapam bears witness to the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav today. Reflecting on the dance drama presentation by school children on Bhagwan Mahaveer Swami titled “Vartaman mein Vardhaman,” the Prime Minister praised the dedication and commitment of the youth toward the values of Bhagwan Mahaveer as a sign of the nation moving forward in the right direction. He also announced the release of a commemorative stamp and coin on the occasion, expressing gratitude to the Jain community for their guidance and blessings. Shri Modi bowed before the saints from the Jain community and extended his best wishes to all citizens on the auspicious occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti. The Prime Minister paid tribute to Acharya Shri Vidyasagarji Maharaj and recalled his recent meeting with the Acharya, stating that his blessings continue to guide us.

Emphasizing the significance of the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav, the Prime Minister noted various auspicious occurrences, such as the initial phase of the Amrit Kaal coinciding with the nation's journey towards a golden century of independence. He also acknowledged the 75th year of the Constitution and the forthcoming festival of democracy, which will determine the nation's future direction.
